The South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival is a state-wide festival of visual art. In 2020, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the SALA Festival transformed into an online event.
St Mary's College was once again involved in the festival, and in 2020 our Year 6 and Year 7 students worked very hard on their visual art installations.
With support from our Visual Art teachers Ali Vulcheff and Alana Kunowicz, students collaborated on two projects:
Year 7 Art students created a digital display of lino prints featuring iconic landmarks and identifiable images of Adelaide. The moving colourful shapes and lines symbolise the energy of our people interwoven within our city landscape.
Year 6 Art students explored new realities of social distancing through COVID-19, a collaborative display of mixed media clay sculptures symbolising unity rather than division. Students placed their sculptures around the school to explore how they connect to their everyday environment within a 1.5-metre social distancing setting.
Congratulations to our Year 6 and 7 students and Visual Arts staff!
