Mid-Year Reception 2025

Free Mid-Year Tuition for Terms 3 and 4

At St Mary’s College, we believe that every girl deserves a strong, confident start to her education. Our Mid-Year Reception intake offers families the opportunity to begin that journey with care and support.

If your daughter turns five before 31 October 2025, she may be eligible to commence school in Term 3, receiving an extra six months in Reception to grow, connect, and thrive, all while building the foundations of lifelong learning.

Families who enrol before the beginning of Term 3 will receive free tuition for Terms 3 and 4 in 2025.

The offer covers tuition fees and compulsory charges, it excludes uniforms, stationery, and extra-curricular costs. This initiative is made possible through the support of the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools and recognises both the educational benefits of a mid-year start and the need to ease financial pressures during a time of rising living costs.

Mid-Year Reception Transition Program

At St Mary’s College, we understand that starting school is a significant milestone for both students and families. That is why our Mid-Year Reception Transition Program is thoughtfully designed to help your daughter feel safe, confident, and excited about her school journey.

Your daughter will take part in six personalised transition visits across six weeks. These sessions gradually introduce her to our Reception environment, helping her build familiarity with our campus, routines, and the people who will support her every day.

Transition Visit Highlights

  • Visit 1: Parents and students explore the classroom together, easing into the space and forming early connections.
  • Visits 2 and 3: Students participate independently in morning activities, growing in comfort and confidence.
  • Visit 4: Extended morning session where students enjoy learning and play, with recess included.
  • Visit 5: Half-day experience. Students stay through lunch and experience a regular school day.
  • Visit 6: Full-day experience. A meaningful final step that ensures she is truly ready for her transition in Term 3.

Each visit builds upon the last, offering a safe and supportive environment for your child to learn, play, and connect at her own pace.

Parent Information Session

While your daughter enjoys her second visit, you will be invited to a dedicated Parent Information Session with our Director of Junior School and our Reception teacher. This is a chance to:

  • Gain insights into your child’s learning journey
  • Ask questions and meet key staff
  • Connect with other new families over morning tea

Throughout the transition period, our team remains available to support you. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your daughter’s individual needs, we are here to help with open hearts and a genuine commitment to her success. Together, we will ensure your daughter starts school feeling known, confident, and ready to thrive.
