"CAMBODIA IMMERSION TRIP"

While looking back at her time at St Mary's College, Julia highlighted the Vietnam immersion trip that took place in 2009. On this trip they worked with the children that lived at the orphanage and she remembers the day spent at the waterpark.

Julia, her year 11 peers from SMC and students from CBC were in Vietnam for three weeks with Mr Batty, his daughter Caitlin and selected  teachers. They worked at the orphanage and farm and raised enough money to renovate the kitchen. She says she enjoyed playing with the children. She learned a lot about kids from working in the orphanage and says it helped her learn life lessons such as patience, empathy and the importance of helping others. Julia loved this experience so much and gained inspiration, so she decided to become a teacher and has now been working as an educator for several years.
